Obituary:

Inwood, Iowa - Hermina Van Ginkel, 83, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at Fellowship Village, Inwood.

The Funeral Service was Thursday, July 30 at the Inwood Christian Reformed Church. Burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Hermina Veldman was born August 12, 1925 on the homestead south of Inwood, daughter of Henry and Tena (Kooima) Veldman. She attended country school and graduated from the Inwood High School.

Hermina married Everett Van Ginkel on April 20, 1945 on the Veldman homestead. Together they farmed SW of Inwood 5 years before farming NW of Inwood. Hermina taught piano for over 50 years, was organist at the Christian Reformed Church many years, and helped as organist at other Inwood churches. She also enjoyed gardening. Everett died on October 21, 2000. Hermina moved to Fellowship Village on September 1, 2008.

Surviving relatives include three sons: Ron Van Ginkel of Alton, Iowa, Kim (Lisa) Van Ginkel of Inwood, Scott Van Ginkel of Sioux Falls, So. Dak.; two daughters, Gloria (Don) Dickmann of Grandville, Michigan, Bonnie Burgers of Lester, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Mary Van Ginkel of Inwood; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Henrietta Maassen of Lynden, Wash., Betty Jean (Eugene) Eisma of Inwood, Eldora (Bud) Hoff of Gilbert, AZ, Donna Schepel and Gert DeJong both of Rock Valley, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sherrie Veldman of Rock Valley. Everett’s brother John (Jeanette) Van Ginkel of Rock Valley; brother-in-law, John Van Beek of Rock Valley; sisters, Roevina (Gilbert) Hoogendoorn and Gert Vande Stouwe all of Rock Valley.

Hermina was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Tena; husband, Everett; son, Robert Van Ginkel; son-in-law, John Burgers; brother, Gerald Veldman; brothers-in-law, Al Schepel, Nels DeJong, and John Maassen. Everett’s sister, Ethel Van Beek; brother-in-law, Bill Vande Stouwe.
