Harold Braun, age 83 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his home. Funeral service was Saturday, July 25th at the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with burial at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

Harold Arthur Braun was born July 28, 1925 in Sibley, Iowa, the son of Emil and Minnie (Rust) Braun. He was raised on the family farm and attended Sibley Community Schools. He entered the U.S. Army on June 13, 1945, where he served as a Military Policeman. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1946 and returned home. On June 25, 1948 Harold was united in marriage to Luetta “Lou” Cassen. Together the couple farmed for several years and also Harold worked at the Rock Rapids Elevator. After moving to Sioux Falls, SD, Harold and Luetta managed The Country Club Estates Condos in Sioux Falls for 14 years, retiring back to Rock Rapids in October of 1993.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Rapids, and the American Legion and VFW of Rock Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and country western dancing.

He is survived by his wife, Luetta “Lou” Braun of Rock Rapids, IA; three children, Doug (Lari) Braun of Chandler, AZ, Peggy Feltman of Sioux Falls, SD and Jean (Bub) Vande Weerd of Rock Rapids, IA; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Braun of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray (Joan) Braun of George, IA; and a sister-in-law, Wava Braun of Rock Rapids, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Minnie Braun; a son, Steve Braun; a son-in-law, Steve Feltman; a grandson, Casey Braun; and four brothers, Carl Braun in infancy, Edward Braun, Albert Braun and Merlin Braun.
