Obituary: Inwood, IA: Leota Hage, 89, of Inwood, died Friday, January 2, 2009 at Fellowship Village, Inwood. Memorial Service was held Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood with burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Leota was born August 12, 1919 at Dunnell, Minnesota, daughter of Arthur and Laura (Hillesland) Erickson. She grew up in the Dunnell area where she gained the nick name “Babe” and graduated from the Sherburn, MN high school. She wanted to become a pharmacist, but that required many years of schooling, but did attend college at St. Cloud for a few months before she married Lloyd Hage on June 7, 1939 at Dunnell.

Together they lived on the Hage family farm with Lloyd’s parents a year until Lewis and Mary Hage moved to Inwood. In 1949, Leota and Lloyd moved to the farm where Kim and Judy now reside and retired to Inwood in 1976. Lloyd died on February 28, 1992. Leota was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in circle, Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday school until moving to Fellowship Village on September 20, 2007.

Leota is survived by 2 daughters, Jan (Hans) Mercer of Juneau, Alaska, Julie (Laird) Trusler of Newton, Iowa; 3 sons, Kim (Judy) Hage of Inwood, Kirk (Ellen) Hage of Killeen, Texas, Karl (Patti) Hage of Juneau, Alaska; 15 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special niece, Louene Erickson; special friend, Adrianna Klarenbeek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; 3 sisters, Joyce Welte, Ardith Wiese, and Odis Erickson; brother, Francis Erickson; and 2 infant brothers.
