Obituary:

Inwood, Iowa - Bob Van Ginkel, 59, of Inwood, died due to cancer, Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the Veterans Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral Service was held Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church at Inwood with burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Robert J. "Bob" Van Ginkel was born July 28, 1949 at Canton, South Dakota, son of Everett and Hermina (Veldman) Van Ginkel. He graduated from the Inwood High School in 1967. He joined the 185th Air Force National Guard Unit at Sioux City in January 1968 and as a Unit was activated to Vietnam 1968-1969.

Bob married Mary Stick on September 26, 1970 in Estherville, Iowa. Bob and Mary lived in Sioux Falls for two years where he worked for Rice Brothers at the Sioux Falls Stockyards. They moved near Inwood and started farming in 1972 and moved into Inwood in 2002. Bob had worked for the Inwood Hatchery and Feed since 1995.

Bob was a proud member of the Inwood Fire Department for 35 years; enjoyed woodworking projects, working with his hands being very rewarding; a member, deacon, and choir member of the Inwood Christian Reformed Church; and he served on many boards in the Inwood Community.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Robb (Kami) Van Ginkel of Oostburg, Wisconson and Tom (Tammy) Van Ginkel of Inwood; two daughters, Jen (Ryan) Jensen of Mitchell, South Dakota, and Betsy (Bill) Viereck of Larchwood, Iowa; four grandsons, Cody, Braden and Logan Van Ginkel and Tregen Jensen; his mother, Hermina Van Ginkel of Inwood; three brothers: Ron Van Ginkel of Alton, Iowa, Kim (Lisa) Van Ginkel of Inwood, Iowa and Scott Van Ginkel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two sisters, Gloria (Don) Dickmann of Grandville, Michigan and Bonnie (John) Burgers of Lester, Iowa; father-in-law, Earl Stick of Estherville, Iowa.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Everett Van Ginkel; mother-in-law, Ethel Stick; grandparents: Ralph and Effie Van Ginkel and Henry and Tena Veldman; special Service Buddy, Gary Chicoine.
