Obituary:

Sioux Falls, South Dakota - Ellen Lewis, 86, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Inwood, Iowa, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Memorial service were held Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home with burial of cremains at Richland Cemetery.

Ellen was born on December 10, 1922 on the family farm east of Inwood, daughter of Henry and Lena (Jensen) Hamann. She grew up in the Inwood area and graduated from Inwood High School in 1939. Ellen married Norman Lewis on September 27, 1941 at South Sioux City, Nebraska. Together they lived at Canton and Yankton, South Dakota before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1955.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Norman of Sioux Falls; two sons: Douglas Lewis of Sioux Falls and Kent (Renita) Lewis of Manhattan, Kansas; 4 grandchildren, Sandra Woods, Jessica (Ryan) Kuzman, Aaron (Traci) Lewis, and Andrew (Meghan) Lewis; six great-grandchildren, Heather, Seth, and Sarah Woods, Kellen and Mya Kuzman, Hana Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Roemen, Lynda Serck, Hulda Kroger, and Alice De Haan; an infant sister; brothers: Albert and Ervin Hamann.
