Funeral services for Louis Mammenga, 69, of Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa, were held December 7, 1992 at Peace Lutheran Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, west of George, also in Lyon county.

He died Thursday, December 3, 1992 at Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mr. Mammenga was born November 3, 1923 in George. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and received three Bronze Stars.

On August 9, 1944, he married Verna Schnepf in Ft. Riley, Kansas.

After the war, he worked for Siebring Manufacturing in George, the Lyon County Highway Department and the State Highway Department. He worked for 20 years at Sudenga Manufacturing, George.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and Randy of Rock Rapids; one daughter, Janet Bechler of Rock Rapids; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, John of Little Rock, Lyon county, Iowa, his twin. Levi, of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Orville of Rapid City, South Dakota and five sisters, Frances Bandsma of Waupun, Wisconsin, Margaret Leask of Battle Creek, Michigan, Helen Bierstedt of Plattville, Wisconsin, Luella Davis of Sloan, Iowa and Minnie Mae O’Conner of Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
