Funeral services for Lizzie Popkes, 92, of Ellsworth, Minnesota, were held October 27, 1992 at Bethel Reformed Church, rural Ellsworth, with interment in the church cemetery.

She died Sunday, October 25, in the Luverne, Minnesota, Community Hospital.

Lizzie Huisman was born January 2, 1900, in Midland Township, Lyon county, Iowa, were she grew up and attended country school.

On May 19, 1926, she married Menno Popkes. They farmed north of George, Lyon county, Iowa. Her husband died in 1988.

She became a resident of Park View Manor in Ellsworth.

Survivors include three sons, Lammert of George and Wendell and Murnice, both of Ellsworth; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Calvin (Pearl) DeBuhr of Ellsworth.
