Funeral services for Kenneth Schilling, 49, of Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa, were held October 27, 1992 in Presbyterian Church, Ashton, Iowa, with interment in Gilman Township Cemetery.

He died Friday, October 23, 1992 in Northwest Iowa Health Center, Sheldon, Obrien county, Iowa.

Mr. Schilling was born September 20, 1943 in Sanborn, Iowa. He lived in the Sanborn and Melvin, Iowa areas and attended school in Sibley, Iowa and Jasper, Minnesota. He farmed until rheumatoid arthritis caused him to quit farming.

On March 20, 1963, he married Janice Dagel of rural Ashton.

He worked in construction in the Ashton area, building steel buildings. He also served as chief of police in George, Iowa. Since 1985, they have lived in Rock Rapids and for the past four hears he has been employed at Pettengill Concrete and Gravel in Rock Rapids.

He was involved with Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids for more than 20 years as a driver, worked with the pit crew, was a flagman and most recently, a pit steward.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kenneth of Little Rock, Iowa, Jay of Arnolds Park, Iowa and Joe of Sibley, Iowa; three grandchildren; his mother, Ann Schilling of Sheldon; two brother, Donny of Reno, Nevada and Willy of Sheldon, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Rudy (Marian) Pape of Sioux City, Iowa.
