Funeral services for Cornelius “Neal” Harmsen, 69, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, were held August 14, 1992 in First Christian Reformed Church, Sioux Falls, with interment in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa.

He died Tuesday, August 11, 1992 in his home.

Mr. Harmsen was born October 17, 1922 in Hudson, South Dakota. He grew up in the Rock Rapids area and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

On June 25, 1949, he married Loretta Vande Kamp in Holland, Michigan. He lived in Holland for a time before moving to Rock Rapids where he was employed as a mechanic for Kooiker Chevrolet.

They moved to Sioux Falls and he was employed with Billion Olds. He also worked at Daytons and K-Mart in the maintenance departments for a few years. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Kevin of El Cajon, California; three daughters, Sally Terlisner of Bloomington, Minnesota, Gloria Hastings of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kim Burkhart of Sioux Fall; for grandsons; two brothers, Marion of Rock Rapids and Jim of Jenison, Michigan, and four sisters, Mrs. Joe (Grace) Van Hill, Mrs. Allen (Ellen) Stellinga, Gertrude Nyenhuis and Mrs. Dale (Mildred) Katt, all of Rock Rapids.
