Funeral services for Lydia Tammen, 93, of Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa were held August 14, 1992 at Roste Funeral Chapel, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

She died Wednesday, August 12, 1992 in Rock Rapids Health Centre where she was a resident since 1975.

Lydia Hildebrandt was born November 17, 1898, in Lyon county, Iowa and grew up in Steen, Rock county, Minnesota.

On February 19, 1914, she married George Tammen in Steen. They farmed near Holland, Minnesota, and in other Minnesota communities. They moved to Rock Rapids in 1935.

She worked for the Lyon County Reporter for many years and retired in the early 1060’s. Her husband died in 1965.

Survivors include one son, Walter of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; one daughter, Ruby Grush of Newton, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
