Funeral services for Louis L. Corcoran, 80, of Sibley, Osceola county, Iowa, were held August 10, 1992 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Sibley with interment in the parish cemetery.

He died unexpectedly Thursday, August 6, 1992 at the hospital in Sibley.

Mr. Corcoran was born July 15, `9`2 in Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa and graduated from high school there. He attended Notre Dame University for one year. He then transferred to the University of Iowa where he completed his undergraduate work before continuing in the university’s law school.

In 1934 he married Ruth Rodamar.

He graduated from law school in 1935 and was admitted to the bar, them moved to Sibley to practice law.

Mr. Corcoran was a trial lawyer, honored as a Fellow of the American Academy of Trial Lawyers. He was president of the Iowa Bar Association; a member of the National Probate Law Association. In his earlier years, he served as Osceola County Attorney and was a long-time director of the First National Bank of Sibley.

During World War II, he was a Lieutenant J.G. gunnery officer in the United States Navy. He was a Judge Advocate in Washington, DC.

He terminated his law practice 12 years ago due to failing health.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Cooper of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Sue Griffen of Aurora, Illinois; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a brother. R. T. Corcoran of Iowa City, Iowa.
