Death of John Rutten
Died Monday morning at his home north of town from Pneumonia.

John R. Rutten was born in Beegden, Holland, in 1864, died at his home two and one half miles south of Larchwood Monday, May 2nd from an attack of pneumonia. He was 50 years old at the time of his death. He was married May 1, 1889. His wife having for the past five years been in the State Hospital at Cherokee. Five children are left to mourn his loss. They are: Nellie, Maggie, Leon, Anna and Mary. For the past fourteen years he has been a resident of Lyon County where he was a successful and highly respected farmer.

The funeral services were held from St. Mary's Church Wednesday morning. Rev. Father Cooke officiating. The funeral services was largely attended as a token of the esteem in which he was held in the community.
