H. W. “Wills” DeVries, 78, died Mary 28 in Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, Lyon county, Iowa.

Herman Wilford DeVries was born August 7, 1913, in Hull, Sioux county, Iowa. He graduated from Hull High School and served in the Merchant Marines for many years.

He moved to the George Good Samaritan Center in George, Lyon county, Iowa several years ago.

Survivors include two brothers, Cor, of Sand Point, Idaho and Stephen of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and two sisters: Catherine Van Batavia of Hewett, Minnesota, and Lucille Meyer of Portland Oregon.

Services were held on June 2, 1992 in the Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, with burial in Hope Cemetery, Hull, Iowa.
