Funeral services for Fred A. Stubbe were held from Green Hills Chapel on November 9, 1973 with interment in the Green Hills cemetery at San Pedro, Los Angeles county, California.

Fred A. Stubbe was born December 7, 1897, the son of Anno and Lena (Sonneboom) Stubbe at Freeport, Stephenson county, Illinois. In 1916 the family moved to George, Lyon county, Iowa. On May 20, 1918 he was united in marriage to Alta Bettenga and to this union 3 children were born: Harris, Mavis and Patricia.

Fred was in the carpenter business until 1941 when the family moved to Des Moines, Iowa. In November of 1942 they moved to Lomita, California where he was employed in the shipyards there. In 1950 the family moved to the Wilmington area of Los Angeles and he became an owner in Thorn’s garage with his son-in-law, James Thorn. In 1970 he retired and resided much of his time at Desert Hot Springs, California. On December 5, 1973 he became suddenly ill and was taken to the Memorial Hospital at Long Beach where he passed away.

Survivors are his two daughters: Mavis A. Thorn of Wilmington, California and Patricia A. Nicholson of Torrance, California; four brothers: John and George of Freeport, Illinois, Henry of Anaheim, California and Clifford of Seoul, Korea. There are also 4 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alta, who passed away in November of 1972; his son Harris; 1 brother Charles; and 2 sisters: Esther Simmons and Bertha Anderson
