Funeral services for Mrs. Hannah Willemssen were conducted from the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church on December 1, 1973. Interment was in the cemetery adjacent to the church.

Mrs. Henry (Hannah) Willemssen was born in German Valley, Stephenson county, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Toas Greenfield on October 31, 1880. She came with her parents to Matlock, Sioux county, Iowa when she was 14 years of age.

On March 22, 1900 she was united in marriage to Henry B. Willemssen at Matlock, Sioux county, Iowa. The couple farmed southeast of George, Lyon county, Iowa and made their church home at the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church. To this union 10 children were born. Due to ill health, she spent the last years in the Good Samaritan Center in George, passing away on November 29, 1973 at the age of 93 yrs and 28 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and 2 daughters: Carrie (Mrs. Ben R. Geerdes) and Ruth (Mrs. Raymond Harms).

Survivors are 8 children: Irvin of George, Marie (Mrs. Albert Fuls) of German Valley, Illinois, Esther (Mrs. George Rust) of Freeport, Illinois, Lucy (Mrs. John Geerdes) of George, Thomas of Freeport, Illinois, Lillian (Mrs. Elmer Hendricks) of DeSmet, South Dakota, Eva (Mrs. Alvin Seuss) of Freeport, Illinois, Rhoda, Mrs. Dick Koerselman) of George, 37 grandchildren and 80 great-grandchildren.
