LONG, CARL
Dies at Larchwood, Iowa., Dec 2, 1949
Funeral services for Carl Long, 88, will be held at the Grand View church west of here Monday afternoon at 2 .m. Believed to be one of the oldest residents in this area, Mr. Long died Thursday evening.

The son of John August and Johanna Danielson Long, he was born in Vadstena, Ostergotland, Sweden, June 1, 1861. He came with his father to America at the age of 7. In 1871 the family moved to Sioux Township in Lyon county, and Mr. Long lived on the homestead for the remainder of his life.

Survivors include the widow; seven sons, Ferdinand and Carl of Harrisburg, the Rev. Axel C. of Laurens, Ia., Joseph and David of Larchwood, and John and Palmer at home; four daughters, Mrs. Gilmer Hildring of Larchwood, Mrs. John Maass of Garretson, Mrs. Tonnes Mannes of Brandon, and Amanda at home and 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

The Rev. France Ericson will officiate at the funeral services. Relatives requested that gifts to church causes be offered instead of flowers. The Miller Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
