JAMMER, WILLIAM

William Jammer Dies Thursday;
Ill Many Months
Well Known R. Rapids Man
Buried Monday from Home Here

Death, early Thursday, ended a 19-months' illness for William Jammer, prominent Rock Rapids man, a resident of Lyon county for nearly half a century.

Funeral services for Mr. Jammer, who was 75 years of age at the time of his death, were held Monday at the Jammer home on South Carrol street, with Rev. C. P. Bast, pastor of the Congregational church, delivering the funeral sermon. Interment was made in Riverview cemetery here.

Mr. Jammer was born on November 8, 1880, at Davenport. There he spent his boyhood, and after completing his schooling, he engaged in farming near Davenport.

On February 3, 1886 Mr. Jammer married Dora Kock, the ceremony taking place at Davenport, and members of the family were making plans for a fitting golden wedding anniversary celebration at the time of Mr. Jammer's death.

In 1890 the Jammer family moved to Lyon county, settling on a farm in Allison township, where they made a home until 1912, when Mr. Jammer retired and moved to Rock Rapids to reside.

Mr. Jammer was long active in the affairs of the community. He was a member of the democratic party, and active in this work, and he had served with distinction as a member of the Sons of Hermann fraternal organization and was active in its affairs for many years.

Nineteen months ago Mr. Jammer was taken ill. He suffered a slight paralytic stroke and he never recovered from its effects. Mr. Jammer was seldom able to leave his home during the last months of his life, but his death was unexpected, his condition appearing to be slightly improved the day before his death.

Mr. Jammer is survived by his wife, six daughters and two sons. The daughters are Alma Doss and Emily Jammer of this city, Luella Julian of Flandreau, S. D., and Loretta Schultz of Rock Valley, Viola Larson of Joplin, Mo., and Dorothy Sauer of Santa Monica, Calif. His sons are August and William, both making their homes near this city.

Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Lockwood funeral home.
