Lamont Jammer Dies Suddenly
Funeral Services at Congregational Church Wednesday

The sudden death Monday of Lamont Jammer, young Rock Rapids farmer, startled and saddened the community. He was 26 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the home and 2:00 p.m. at the Congregational church in Rock Rapids. Rev. J. Wesley Peirson will conduct the services. Mrs. Kenneth Wallace will sing "The Lord's Prayer" and "23rd Psalm" accompanied by Mrs. Hugo Ross.

Lamont was a popular young man in the community, noted for his friendly, happy attitude. He was affectionally called "Tubby" by his friends. He was outstanding as an athlete, particularly at baseball. In high school the battery of Jammer and Jammer, of which he was catcher, and his brother Bill was pitcher, was considered one of the best in the state in high school circles.

Lamont was born May 23, 1921 at Marion, S.D. When two years of age his parents moved to Lester, and a year later, to the farm near Rock Rapids where he has since resided.

He was united in marriage with Velda Wittrock August 6, 1948.

Monday while transacting business in Rock Rapids, Lamont was stricken with a terrible pain. He was rushed to a doctor but died within a very short time of coronary thrombosis.

Lamont's father, Wm. Jammer, died last summer. Lamont is survived by his wife, Velda; his mother, Mrs. Wm Jammer; one brother, Bill of Rock Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Ray Klinkenborg of George; two aged grandmothers; and many relatives and friends.

Lockwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
