MILLER, ELMER LEONARD 1914 - 1988
March 1988, Granite, Iowa - Elmer Leonard Miller, 73, Granite, died Friday in his home.

He was born June 20, 1914, in Sioux Falls, where he grew up and attended school. He married Colette Brennan on May 30, 1937, in Canton.They resided in Sioux Falls where Elmer worked as a quarry superintendent for Sweetman Construction. In 1945 he designed and invented the Du-al loader and then established Du-al Manufacturing in Sioux Falls.

After selling the company in 1987, Elmer moved to Brandon where he farmed. In 1967 he moved to Granite. He farmed there until 1971 when he established Miller Loaders, Inc.

Survivors include his wife; two sons; Elmer Jr. Canton; and Thomas, Larchwood, Iowa; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three brothers; Grant, Larchwood; Leonard, Houston; and Richard, Sioux Falls; and three sisters; Selma Chase and Lucille Weber, both of Sioux Falls; and Harriet Crisp, Fallbrook, California.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Grandview Covenant Church, Larchwood, with burial in Grandview Covenant Cemetery, Larchwood.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Roste Funeral Home, Larchwood, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m.
