Dorothy Hilbrands, 76, of Sheldon died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Oak Park Care Center.
Services were Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Sheldon, with interment in Lyon County Presbyterian Church Cemetery, George.
Dorothy Geerdes was born Sept. 8, 1926, in George, the daughter of George and Emma (Heikens) Geerdes. She grew up in George and graduated from George High School. She attended teachers college in Cedar Falls.
On July 31, 1944, she married Abraham Hilbrands in George. They lived and farmed in the George area until 1955 when they moved to Sheldon.
She played in the bell choir and was a member of Rhoda Circle at United Methodist Church in Sheldon.
Survivors include two sons, Lee of George and Fred of Sheldon; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Doris) Moret of Wilmington, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, George of Elfredia, Ariz., and two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Vera) Eberlein of Rock Rapids and Grace Rypkema of George.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Ben, John, Harm, Raymond, Elmore and Art, and two sisters, Minnie and Emily.
