GROTEWOLD, LAURA SCHOENFELDER 1908-1999
Laura Grotewold, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Rapids,IA. Laura Marie Schoenfelder was born Sept. 8, 1908, in Larchwood. She grew up in the Larchwood area and graduated from St. Mary's High School. She completed the Normal teacher's Training Program in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught country school in westernLyon county for many years. She married Laurence Grotewold on June 10, 1939, in South Sioux City, Neb. They lived in rural Larchwood where they operated a farm. Her husband died Feb. 15, 1992. She became a resident of Lyon Manor in February 1997. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Larchwood.

Survivors include two sons: John of Larchwood and Don of Moses Lake, Wash.;two daughters: Mary Blauwet of Larchwood and Jane Bonynge of Spicer, MN.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Funeral Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday at The church of St. Mary in Larchwood, with burial in the Larchwood Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 9 p.m today at the church, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Roste Funeral Home of Larchwood is in charge of arrangements.
