Emil Bjork, 83, of Larchwood died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at Avera McKennan Hospice, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Memorial services were Wednesday at United Church of Christ, Larchwood, with interment in Larchwood Cemetery.

Mr. Bjork was born July 30, 1919, at Larchwood. He grew up in Larchwood and graduated from Larchwood High School. During World War II, he served in the army air force. On April 1, 1946, he began working for Security Savings Bank in Larchwood.

On Oct. 13, 1946, he married Lorraine Edmundson at Valley Springs, S.D. They lived in Larchwood where he continued working at the bank for 35 years, rising to the position of vice-president. After his retirement in 1981, he worked part-time for Security Financial Agency until fully retiring in 1985. He moved to Prince of Peace Nursing Home in Sioux Falls in March 2001.

He was a member of American Legion, Optimist Club and Larchwood Fire Department. He was a past president of Lyon County Bankers Associaition.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Arnie and Roger, both of Sioux Falls; one grandson and one brother, Ray of Waconia, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Hansen, and one brother, Virgil.
