Michael Reckert, 21, of Larchwood died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at his home following a battle with cancer.

Funeral mass was Saturday at Church of St. Mary, Larchwood, with interment in Larchwood Cemetery.

Michael was born Feb. 28, 1981, at Sioux Falls, S.D., the son of Bill and Maureen (Doherty) Reckert. He grew up in Larchwood and attended West Lyon, graduating in 2000. He worked part-time in the labeling department at Grand Labs and played guitar with the band "Four Day Mourning." He graduated from the laser electro optics program at Southest Technical Institute in May 2002.

Survivors include two brothers, Stephen and Daniel, both of Larchwood; maternal grandmother, Alice Doherty of Larchwood; paternal grandmother, Ann Reckert of Rock Rapids, and maternal great-grandparents, Alvin and Verena Schettler of Larchwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandfathers, Bob Doherty and Bob Reckert, and paternal great-grandparents, Bernie and Ruth Rozeboom.
