Ellen Marie DeBerg was born on April 27, 1924 in George, Iowa; the daughter of John and Irene (Beek) DeBerg. She graduated from the Little Rock High School and attended Northwestern College at Orange City, Iowa.

She married Harmon Klaassen on July 15, 1943 in rural Rushmore, Minnesota, at the Immanuel Presbyterian Parsonage. They lived at Rock Rapids, Iowa; Armstrong, Iowa; Little Rock, Iowa; and in 1962 moved to Worthington.

Ellen Marie was employed with the Band Box Cleaners; and with K-Mart in Worthington for 12 years until her retirement in 1987. She died on December 29, 1991, in Worthington, Minnesota.

Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, Harmon; her two sons: Stanly of Worthington, Bradley of Moorhead, Minnesota; her two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Charlotte) Hoffman of Worthington, Mrs. Loren (Barbara) Kremer of Worthington; 16 grandshildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Ritchie Hoffman and Jeremy Klaassen.
