In Response To: Dunfee Family 1900 (Travis Thompson)

Greetings Travis,
Found the Dunfee family you mentioned in the 1900 Census, 3rd Ward, Chariton, Lucas Co., IA.
Fred, 43, b. Iowa; Laura, 29, b. Indiana, Besides sons, Ona?, b.1887 Nebraska; Asa, b. 1889, Kansas, there was also a son, Edwin,ag 5, b. Nov. 1895 in Iowa. I checked my source materials for Lucas Co., and didn't find any surname spelled "Dunfee". [Noticed there were many listed as "Dunshee". Any relation? :-) ]
In checking further, the 1910 Federal Census; Fred, 53, and Stella?, 29? [hard to read], with two boarders, no children, located at Seward Nebraska. It looks like Fred's occupation says Hotel, not sure. Was Fred re-married, or is Stella nickname? "Laura" and three children are not buried at Lucas Co., IA. [unless she married someone else and kids' names were changed?].
1920 Census shows an Edwin Dunfee, ag 26, b. Iowa, with wife, and 8 1/2 yr old child. This is the right age groupd for Fred's son, Edwin. Not sign of Ora or Asa in a quick look through.

Happy hunting,
Mary Beth in Wisconsin
