Evelyn L. Wells, 60, lifelong resident of Chariton, died at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City Thursday afternoon from surgery performed earlier in the day.

She is survived by her husband, John of Chariton; two sisters, Dorris Scaglione of Scottsdale, AZ., and Darlene Smith of Chariton; two brothers, Lyle Foster of Chariton and Roland Foster of Thompsonville, IL.

Arrangements were made by Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Edward Quick conducting. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Chariton Public Library.
