Dayna Nixon Morrett, 25, new bride of Danny Morrett of Chariton, died July 17, 1987 at the Lucas County Hospital, after suffering an acute asthma attack.

Dayna was born in Downey, CA and was raised in Monmouth, IL. Dayna was graduated from Warren High School in Monmouth in 1979 and received a degree in Special Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb. After graduating from college she had spent her life in helping handicapped people, working at Hancock County Rehabilitation in Carthage, IL, later for Tenco Industries in Ottumwa and Chariton and most recently at Goodwill Industries in Des Moines. She had plans of getting her masters degree in special education and becoming a teacher.

Dayna is survived by her husband Danny, her father and step-mother Dayne and Ruth Nixon of Macomb, IL; her mother Sandra Nixon of Wataga, IL; her sister Angel Johnson of Galesburg, IL; a step-brother Kyle Murfin stationed in Germany in the service; two step-sisters, Cheryl Bernero of Oak Park, IL and Jaci Vaughn of Jacksonville, IL and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Lawrie of Downey, CA.

Services were held at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Pearl Sams officiating. Bearers were Greg Clay, Lenny Buttz, Verne LaVoie, John Romoser, Michael Brown and Charlie Hixenbaugh.

Interment was in the Crane Cemetery, Lomax, IL.

Memorials may be made to Tenco Workshop in Chariton.
