Harry H. Smith, 79, of Chariton, pasted away August 30, 1987 after being reported missing, was found by a neighbor in weeds behind the city water storage tank on First Street. He had set himself on fire.

On August 3, 1986 was a celebration held celebrating their 45th Wedding Anniversary at the Chariton Community Center.

He had been suffering from cancer.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Chariton.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice; one daughter, Eleanor Barnhill of Fontana, CA.; two granchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were held at the Fielding Funeral Home with burial in the Chariton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chariton Odd Fellows Lodge.
