Myrtle Fay (Angstead) Olson was born near Chariton, IA, to Ira F. and Lula (Shupe) Angstead on February 1, 1921. She died April 15, 1995 at Grinnell Hospital.

Fay attended both grade schools and high school in Chariton. She received her LPN degree after moving to Des Moines. She was a nurse in several hospitals in Des Moines and then at the hospital in Grinnel for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Lilly Gay Steinbach, in 1968; her husband, Gifford Olson, in 1980; two infant daughters, Gwendolyn Gay Twombley and Cathy Sue Olson; two other sisters, Iris Davenport, in 1962, and Irene Williams, in 1975; a brother, PFC Mahlon B. Angstead who was killed in Germany during WWII, in 1945, and a brother, Forrest Donavan Angstead in 1992.

She leaves to mourn her passing five sons, Eric and Jackie Twombley, Bruce King; Jerry and Kirk Olson, and one sister, Mary Jane Smith, of Chariton.

Arrangements were made by the Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell, IA.

Her body was cremated and the remains will be taken to Holiday Lake to be scattered there.
