Wayne Arlo Kelderman, 44, guidance counselor at the Chariton Comm. High School for the past 15 years.

Wayne was born the son of William and Minnie (Hockman) Kelderman, in Des Moines December 5, 1934.He passed away April 7, 1979 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital, having transferred there from IA. Methodist Medical Center the previous day. Wayne was a patient at the Medical Center over 60 days since the first of January. He was struggling to overcome his cancer when he suffered a severe stroke on March 20, from which he failed to recover.

On July 30, 1954, Wayne was united in marriage to Maxine Kersey. To this union three daughters were born, Lavonne of Olathe, KS., Marcia Huddleston of Minneaplis, MN and Anita at home; and a son, Wayne Jr., who died in infancy.

Wayne was an active member in the Chariton Church of the Nazarene and of the Iowa District, Church of the Nazarene. He was a former member of the Board of Trustees at the Mid-America Nazarene College in Olathe, KS.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine; three daughters, Lavonne of Olathe, KS., Marcia Huddleston of Minneapolis, MN., Anita of Chariton; one grandson, Nicholas Huddleston of MN.; his father, William Kelderman of Pella; three sisters, Mrs. Joann Pfadenhauer of Pella, Irene Draper of Pella, and Edna Jones of Omaha; two brothers, the Rev. Melvin Kelderman of Dayton, OH and the Rev. LeRoy Kelderman of Norwalk.

Funeral services were at the Fielding Funeral Home with Dr. Forrest Whitlatch conducting, assisted by the Rev. L.C. Jinkerson. Burial in the Chariton Cemetery.

The Chariton Community High School was dismissed at 1:30 p.m. for the funeral.

Memorials may be made to the church of the Nazarene.
