From the Chariton Herald, 1/1/1894

LINSTROM….Died, of pneumonia, at the residence of his son, Charles, three miles north of Chariton, Ia, December 18, 1893, Mr. Samuel Peter Linstrom, in the 78th year of his age.

The deceased was a native of Sweden, in which country he was born, April 16, 1818. He was married when a young man, and for several years served as a soldier in the regular army of Sweden. In 1859 he and his family came to America, and first settled at Jamestown, NY. Later in 1862 they moved to IL, and after a short residence there, came to IA, and for the past 16 years the deceased has been was a resident of Lucas Co. Ia.

He was twice married. There were 7 children as the offspring of the first marriage, 3 of who are living. The three living sons are Samuel Linstrom of Essex, IA; Charles Linstrom of Lucas Co. with who the deceased father had been making his home; and Nicholas Linstrom of Edgar, Clay Co., NE.

The funeral services were performed at the residence by Rev. W C Atwood.
