MUMFORD

Verne R. Mumford, 75, of Garden Grove, Ia., passed away unexpectedly at the family home Monday, Feb. 21, 1977. Mr. Mumford, a resident of Lucas County for many years, was the son of Robert and Valeria (Keysor) Mumford and was born April 2, 1901.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Taylor on Jan. 20, 1922. Their home was blessed with one son, Gerald D. Mumford of the family home; and three daughters, Martha (Mrs. Dwight K. George) of Grinnell, Ruth (Mrs. John A. Cooper) of Monroe, and Mary (Mrs. Donald D. Jessip) of Chariton, all of whom survive.

Also surviving are five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Marjorie; one grandson, Robert D. George; his parents; and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Haggard officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
