The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, February 13, 1908

GUSTAF FREBURG was born in Sweden Feby 7, 1840, and died at the home of his
daughter, MRS. ERIC JOHNSON, Feby 6, 1908, at the age of 69 years, after an
illness of only a few days with pneumonia.

He came to America in 1859, and has since lived in Davenport with the
exception of two years spent in this city about sixteen years ago. He was
married to HANNAH JOHNSON at Moline, Ill., in 1867. To this union were born
nine children, seven of whom are living. They are MRS. ALMA WINKLER of
Kansas City; MRS. ERA SIMS, OSCAR and AMOS of Des Moines; GUSTAF of St. Paul
JOHN of Perry; MRS. E.M. JOHNSON of this city, all being present at the
funeral services.

He was a member of the English Lutheran Church at Davenport, and lived a
devoted Christian life. He was a tailor by trade, and was honest and
upright in all his dealings with man. He came to Chariton during the
holidays, for a two months' visit with his daughter, MRS. JOHNSON, at whose
home he died. Funeral services were held at the Swedith Lutheran Church,
Sunday, at 10 o'clock a.m., and the remains buried in the Chariton Cemetery.
The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of their many friends in their
sad bereavement.
