COLUMBIA NEWS:

CHRISTIAN BINGAMAN AGAN was born Feb. 12, 1830, in Orange County, Ind., and
died at his home in Columbia, Iowa, Friday morning, Jan. 24, 1908, in his
78th year. Deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis on Jan. 15, and grew
rapidly worse until death relieved him.

He was married to LOUISA MAY in 1852. To this union were born seven
children. The wife and two children preceded him to the hereafter. The
living children are ELIZABETH, wife of CHAS. MOREHEAD of Columbia; JOHN of
Kansas City; CARSON of Columbia; ANGELINE, wife of LEE AGAN of Columbia and
LEMUEL of Columbia.

In 1854 he was remarried to MRS. BARBARA SHIVELY. To this union were born
five children, three dying in infancy. The living are LETITIA, wife of E.D.
FLANAGAN and JULIA, wife of F.M. STEVENSON, both of Columbia. He leaves a
wife and seven children and twenty-one grandchildren, and seven great
grandchildren, with many friends to mourn their loss.

Uncle BING, as he was most familiarly known to every one, was a good
Christian man, loved by both young and old, a kind husband, an affectionate
father, and a loving neighbor. He will be greatly missed in the church,
where he was an active member. All the children were with him during his
last sickness except JULIA, who could not be with him on account of the
sickness of herself and infant son. The sympathy of the entire community
goes out to the aged wife and children in this their sad bereavement. He
was conscious until a few hours before his death.

He requested that his three sons, JOHN, CARSON and LEMUEL, and three
sons-in-law, LEE AGAN, FRANK STEVENSON and E.D. FLANAGAN, act as pall
bearers. His funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 26, at Oak Dale M.E. Church,
conducted by Rev. John Harned of Essex, and Rev. Smith of Columbia.
Interment in Oak Dale Cemetery.
