Obituary Ray Munson

Ray Munson, son of Peter A. & Alice Munson was born July3, 1898 In Lincoln Township, Lucas County Iowa. He attended Chariton schools and graduated with the class of 1917. He enlisted in the United States Army, and was given training at Simpson College. He received his honorable discharge in December 1918.

He then went into the employ of the Burlington Railroad. After a time he entered the employ of the Chariton Ice Company where he served faithfully& efficiently for many years. On the account of failing health he went to work for the Chariton Wholesale grocery where he worked for about a year. He was united in marriage December 25, 1930, to Thelma Anderson of Chariton and has made his home here ever since. To their home were born 3 Children, the eldest of which died in infancy. The others are Raymond & Paul.

Mr. Munson had been in ill health for the past 3 years, but especially so the past year. He continued to work until about a week before his death. He was 47 years, 4 months & 23 days old.

He is survived by his parents Mr. & Mrs. P.A. Munson, a brother Elmer recently discharged from the Navy, his wife & 2 sons and other relatives.

For a good many years Ray Munson has given good service to this community. He was respected by all as an industrious, honest, courteous, capable and conscientious workman. In his work, he made friends wherever he went, day after day he went about his business, doing hard work for others, asking no favors, but helping as he went. He was a kind father, a good neighbor, a faithful husband, and an asset to the community. His passing is a distinct loss to not only his family, but to the larger number he has served faithfully.
