The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, March 21, 1907

T.F. PUMPHREY, of South Omaha, Nebraska, an old resident of Melrose, died at
his home in Nebraska on March 12, aged 77 years. MR. PUMPHREY was engaged
in the live stock business in Melrose for a number of years and was well
known by all the old residents around here. He had been in failing health
for several weeks, and his death was not unexpected.

MR. PUMPHREY was born in Ohio and removed to Iowa over fifty years ago,
settling first in Wayne County, then at old LaGrange, coming to Melrose
about 1872. The body was brought to Melrose on Thursday and buried beside
the body of his wife, who died in 1878. His sons, W.S., of Ottumwa, and
FRANK, of Milford, Nebraska, besides a son-in-law, FRANK BERNARD, of South
Omaha, were in attendance at the burial.
