Rex O. Scott was born in Davis City on Sept. 21, 1898 to Charles and Rachel Scott. He departed this life Sept. 9, 1984 at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and nine days at the Chariton Manor following a lengthy illness.

He went to school in Davis City, Iowa and the family later moved to Gillette, Wyo. In 1924, he moved to Lucas, Iowa and on Nov. 9, 1925 was united in marriage to Myrtle Mae Goben.

He has worked for CBO Railroad and Maytag in Newton.

Rex lived most of his life in Lucas but the last several years lived at Southgate Apartments.

He is survived by two sons, Rex Junior Scott of Chariton, Iowa, and Frank Scott of Lincoln, Neb.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; both parents; five brothers, and two sisters.

He will be sadly missed by family and friends for Rex held a special place in their hearts.

Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Swanson, Vernon Chiles, Dean Schrodt, William Gamble, Charles Dixson and Dwaine Spencer.

Mildred Sanders served as organist.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1984 at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hambleton officiating. Burial was in the Goshen Cemetery.
