FUNERAL SERVICES FOR
MRS. A. NISWENDER
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Cozetta Niswender, 75, were conducted from the Noecker Funeral Chapel in Gillette on Wednesday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert M. Phenix, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Mrs. Niswender passed away at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 24, following a short illness.
LaVern Harrod sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" accompanied by Mrs. Lewis Grams at the organ.
Pallbearers were Lee Newton, LeRoy Christinck, Jack Hamm, Herbert Strey, Harold Bell, and Carlile Rhoads. Burial was made at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.
Alice Cozetta Scott was born to Charlie and Rachel Scott at Decatur Co., Iowa, on June 17, 1886. She spent her girlhood in Iowa and was united in marriage to Harley Niswender at Chariton, Iowa. Nine children were born to this union.
Mrs. Niswender moved with her family to Wyoming in 1917 and homesteaded 18 miles southeast of Gillette, where they made their home for a number of years before moving to Gillette. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary .
Survivors are two daughters: Mrs. Kenneth (Desma) Doyle of Alliance, Nebraska and Mrs. Tom (Veta) McClure of Paris, Illinois; six sons: Rex, Oliff, Zelton, Wendell, and Dwight of Gillette, and Darvin of Paris, Illinois; two brothers Rex and Oral Scott of Newton, Iowa; one sister: Mrs. Royal Swanson of Lucas, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
All of the children and most of the grandchildren were present for the services.
