The Chariton Leader, Iowa Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1941

Frank David Niswender was born on a farm near Chariton, Iowa, on June 22, 1861, and died quite suddenly on the 12th day of November,1941, at the age of 80 years 4 months and 21 days. All of his life was spent in or near Chariton.
On January 24, 1885 he was married to Miss Emma Larkin, and to this union three children were born, Marie of Chariton, James of Des Moines; and Esther, who died March 15, 1933. Mrs. Niswender preceded her husband in death, passing away September 8, 1929.
Besides the two children he is survived by one grandson, Marion E. Niswender, of Osceola, and one great grandchild, Betty Marie Niswender. He was the youngest of a family of six children, the others all having departed this life.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for more then 50 years and was also a member of the I.O.O.F.
Though not active in recent years Mr. Niswender had spent his time in many deeds of kindness and service for his neighbors and family. He will be greatly missed by all those who had come to know him intimately.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Fred E. Miller of the Methodist Church, were held at the Downs Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2:30 and burial was in Chariton Cemetery.
