ART DARRAH DIES, RITES HELD TODAY

Art Darrah, 66, early resident of Lucas County, who moved to Newton in 1941 where he lived until returning to Chariton one year ago, died at University Hospitals at Iowa City, where he has been a patient for the past two and one-half weeks, Saturday morning.

He was an employee of the Maytag Co. for the past 23 years, retiring in 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Viola of Chariton; two step-sons, William and Clifford White, both of Waukee; two sisters, Bertha Downs of Chariton and Bernice Weiss of Racine, Wis.; and three brothers, Ray Darrah of Chariton and Floyd and Mart both of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held today at 1:30 at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Hook conducting. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
