Hiram Moore

Died, Thursday, March 6, 1902, at 8:30 o'clock p.m., at his home in this city, corner Seventh street and Court avenue, after an illness of two weeks with paralysis, Hiram Moore.

Funeral services were held from the home Saturday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. W. V. Whitten and interment was made in the Chariton Cemetery.

Hiram Moore was born in Bloomington, Ind., March 17, 1817. He was married to Miss Diana Dean in Illinois.

He, with his family came to Lucas county in 1855 and settled in Lincoln township where he lived until 1877, when he moved to Chariton where he had since resided. Mrs. Moore died in 1894.

He was the father of twelve children, five of whom survive him and reside in this county, viz: Mesdames Ed Badger and John Threlkeld, Messrs. William, John and Noah Moore.

For several years he was overseer of this county, and at various times held positions of public trust which he filled in a creditable manner. He was a kind father, a good neighbor and had a large circle of briends who together with the bereaved children mourn his death.
