CECILE [BARBER] LAING (Chariton, IA) ... Cecile [Barber] Laing, 85 of Chariton, IA died Sunday, May 22, 1994 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, with burial at the Chariton Cemetery.

Mrs. Laing was born in Lineville, MO on July 19, 1908 to Charles A. Barber and Ollie Ellen [Moore] Barber. Cecile lived in Chariton for many years and was a secretary for Iowa State University and a member of the First Methodist Church in Chariton.

Survivors include her husband Kermit; two sons Weston and Wendell, both of Chariton; a brother, Fred G. Barber of Knoxville, IA; two sisters, Frankie Wells of Lafayette, CO, and Edna McCoy of Chariton; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barber was a second cousin to Fannie McKinney of the Princeton Care Center.
