August Dernovich met with a fatal accident on Monday in mine No. 5 where he was employed when he was caught by a fall of slate and very badly crushed. He was rushed to the Albia hospital where death relieved him of his suffering on Tuesday morning. He leaves a wife and thirteen children besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday morning from the Catholic church at Chariton.
