Lucinda Myers Cochran – June 16, 1994 - Chariton Patriot

Lucinda Myers Cochran, daughter of Alton and Ida Marker Myers, was born October 7, 1892, in Lucas County, Iowa. She passed away at the Lucas County Health Center, June 8, 1994, at the age of 101 years and 8 months.

Lucinda moved to Louisiana in 1913 where she married Roy Cochran on Feb. 14, 1917. The couple moved back to the family farm in Lucas County. Two sons were born to this union, Archie A. and Ross L. She enjoyed having family dinners, quilting, and working with her flowers. Lucinda volunteered for 25 years at the Senior Citizens Center in Chariton until her health failed. She was especially pleased when her great grandsons came to visit. Luncinda was affiliated wiht Christ United Methodist Church in Chariton for many years. She enjoyed her later years at Northridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother David and family, and her infant sister.

Lucinda is survived by her sons, Archie and wife Freida, and Ross and wife Lorna; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchidren; her famorite niece, Vera Spears and husband Marion and several nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 1994 at the Fielding Funeral Home with Rev. Paul McKinley officiating. Burial was in the Ottawa Cemetery. Serving as bearers were Harry Kent, Glenn Kent, Oliver Kent, Keith Kent, Maurice Skinner and Howard Heston. Honorary bearers included W. W. Skinner, Darold McCauley, Harley Cochran, Mike Carr, Tom Smith and Mike Woehl. Memorials may be made to Northridge or to the Senior Citizens Center.
