Hi Connie,
Now I understand that Asa died sometime before 11 Jun 1880 census taking because Favilla is listed as widow.
If Asa owned land, then his estate would have to go through Probate by Federal Law. Probate records are held at the Louisa Co. Court House in Wapello. You could write or telephone the County Clerk's office and ask if they would look it up for you.
Probate records would list all that was owned at the time and a value would be placed on it. It would also list his heirs. With luck it will also give you a date of death and then you could go to Keck Public Library in Wapello and hope that an obit was posted in the area newspaper.
As to where Favilla went after 1880; I noticed in the 1870 census that Asa Knight was her 2nd husband for the children living with them were named Edith, Laura and Samuel Dayton.
1880 Laura Dayton was still living with her mother and Charles Knight. Perhaps Favilla followed Laura or one of her other children. Have you checked into that?
