William J. Hunt's Obituary:
Mr William J Hunt who for nearly forty years was an honored resident of this county, died on February 27, near Glenwood Minn., at the residence of his son B. Mr Hunt was born in New Jersey May 5, 1825; as a child he removed with his parents to Orange county, N.Y., and at the age of twenty one went from there to Wisconsin, and in 1861 came to Worth county, Iowa, where he followed the avocations of blacksmithing in Northwood and farming in Lincoln township. His was the first blacksmith shop erected in the then struggling village of Northwood. Mr Hunt was married in 1853 to Harriet A. Parker, a native of Orange county N.Y., and to that union, there were born twelve children of whom five are still living. Elias D. and Raymond Hunt were with the father when he died, and with Mrs. S.B. Pickell, the one surviving daughter, laid his worn body to rest in the beautiful cemetery at Northwood. Mr. Hunt was a temperate, industrious, and sturdy man, and kept his health and cheerfulness and mental vigor almost to the last.
