Carroll Berres, 87, of the Morning Sun Care Center, formerly of Mediapolis, died Friday evening, October 10, 2003, at the Morning Sun Care Center. The son of Michael and Sophia Pedersen Berres, he was born February 23, 1916, at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On January 24, 1969, he married Ruth Kuntz at Burlington; she died January 4, 2001.

Carroll worked many years at the Fort Madison Community Hospital and retired from the Burlington Medical Center, working as an LPN. He received his LPN degree from Southeastern Community College in Burlington.

He was a member of the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Rosemary McCambridge and Carolyn Jagielski, both of Milwaukee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 15 at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, with ministers of the Apostolic Christian Church officiating. The pallbearers included Timothy McCambridge, James Bowman, Chad Kuntz, Trent Kuntz, Bryan Kuntz and Leon Kuntz. Interment followed at the Oakville Apostolic Church Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home where the family met with friends in the evening.

A memorial was established for the Apostolic Home for the Handicapped in Morton, Illinois.
