Ruth Doris Stone Pine Bancroft 1904-1998, died February, 19, 1998, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ruth Doris Stone was born in Mediapolis, Iowa on February 10, 1904, the daughter of Isaac and Lettie Louise (Cutcome) Stone. She spent her childhood years in Mediapolis and eastern Colorado. At age eleven, Ruth returned with her parents to Columbus Junction area. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School and taught in one room schools of Muscatine county for three years.

Ruth married Floyd Pine on December 19, 1924. They lived in the Columbus Junction area for twenty-five years, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1953. Floyd preceded her in death in 1956.

On November 28, 1963, Ruth married Rev. Roy O. Bancroft in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1991 they moved to California to be near Roy's son, Rev. David Bancroft. Roy died in May of 1997. Since 1997, Ruth resided near her son, Gordon Pine, in Louisville, Kentucky.

In her lifetime, Ruth was a bookkeeper for Pine Brothers Auto Company, a homemaker, Sunday School teacher, and for 47 years taught Child Evangelism Bible Clubs. Her other activites included the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Iowa Senate Wives Club.

Survivors include three sons: Gordon Pine of Louisville, Kentucy; David Pine of Bremerton, Washington, and Rev. David Bancroft of Ontario, California; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Gordon Stone, of Wapello.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Floyd and Roy; and infant daughter; a brother, Dwight Stone, and two sisters, Vera Croy and Hazel Clark.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 27 from 4-8 pm at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, at 2 p.m., at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev. David Bancroft will officate. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.
