REUBEN P. ALLEN

Reuben Palmer Allen, 94, of Columbus City (Iowa), died Saturday, June 30, 1990, in Iowa City.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Stacy-Lewis Chapel withRev. Wayne Ryan officiating. Music was by Donna Belle Hughes and Earlene Lekwa.

Honorary casket bearers were Dennis Peters, WIlliam Girard, John Morrison, Tom Moyer, Kelby Stites, Joe Brown, Donald Snyde, Ted Allen, Paul Masonholder, Ted Morrison, Randy Allen, Cody Stites, Coley Deese Jr., Ronald Deese, Roger Snyder, and Bob Allen. Casket bearers were Marty Johnson, Mark Wilson, Jerry Snyder, Reuben Deese, Donnie Wayne Allen, and Harold Johnson.

Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was boron August 8, 1895, at the Allen farm in the Pleasant View community, the son of Minton Rollo and Louis Jarvis Allen. He married Bessie Florence Weese.

He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War I, a member of the Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, and the VFW.

He is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Corrinne Moyer and Mrs. Eula Deese, both of Columbus City, Mrs. George (Erma) Brown and Mrs. Naomi Stites, both of Huachuca City, Arizona; Mrs. Earl (Arlene) Johnson of Winfield, Mrs. Richard (Geneva) Snyder of Grandview; Mrs. Gary (Kay) Bylsma of Columbus Junction; three sons, Reuben Dean Allen of Muscatine; Don Allen of Columbus Junction; and Ronald Allen of Fredona; 27 grandchildren; 35 greatgrandchildrenm one great-great grandchild; one brother, Harlan Allen of North Highland, California; and two sisters, Mrs. Mina Hafner of Fairfield and Mrs. August (Evelyn) Foss of Old Town, Florida.

He was preceded in death by four children, Colleen F., Wanda Louise, Martha Pauline and an infant; two grandsons, one greatgrandson, and three brothers, and Elton Allen.
