James R. Wykert

James R. Wykert, age 50, of rural Oakville, Iowa, died Mon­day, afternoon, September 28, 1992 at the Burlington Medical Center, following a construction accident. He was born January 20, 1942 rural Columbus Junction, Iowa, the son of Ray and Jean Sands Wykert. On February 1, 1964, he married Mary Hardin at Oakville. He was a farmer and had also worked in measuring services for the ASCS. He had also done commercial fishing. He. served on the board of the Louisa-Des Moines County Drainage District. He had previously served for 9 years on the Wapello School Board. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Survivors include his parents Ray and Jean Wykert, Oakville; his wife, Mary; three sons, Brent of Wapello, Bradley at home, and Andy of rural Wapello; two grandsons, Eric and Hunter; four sisters; Connie Meeker of Oakville, Jill Beenblossom of Morning Sun, Nancy Cook of Shirey, Texas; and Janice Bailey of Oakville; three brothers, Carl of Keithsburg, Illinois, Harry of Oakville, and Jack of Oakville; and seventeen nieces and neph­ews.

Funeral service for James Wykert will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October I, 1992, at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, with Rev. Lexie Kirkpatrick officiating. Phyllis McCulley will be the organist. Honorary bearers will be Chuck Poisei, Keith Brockway, Tom Wykert, Ernie Peck, Rich Yotter, Wayne Shipman, Rich Siegle, and Mark McCulley. Flower atten­dants will be Barb Brockway, Judy Wykert, Harla Peck, and Janet Shipman.

Cremation will follow the service with burial to be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
